An artist book capturing some of the majesty—both small and grand—in Yosemite Valley. Yosemite National Park, along with all of America’s National Parks, are immeasurable national treasures that need to be maintained and stewarded now more than ever.
This project includes 7 polymer photogravures that are 2.75” x 10” vertical panoramics printed on Hahnemühle Copperplate printmaking paper with Charbonnel Black etching ink. Each print is then letterpress printed with the GPS coordinates for the location of the photograph. These are mounted on a seven collapsing stand structures.
These seven structures are stored on the long edge in a slotted casing. This casing is flanked by to side panels. The left panel has a linocut printed with silver ink on black paper paired with a letterpress printed quote about Yosemite by John Muir. The right panel is a 7 panel letterpress printed topographical map showing the location of all 7 photographs GPS locations. The topographical lines are printed in gold ink while the Merced River is print in silver. The case uses grey Cialux and dark gray Dover bookcloth. Gold marbled paper used as accents on the case and on the inside top lid.
Handset and polymer plate letterpress printed throughout using 18pt Bodoni, 12pt Cochin regular & italic, and 24pt Engravers.
Edition of 15. $3000.
